Off-site working

A recent story in the Times Educational Supplement reported on a new policy at Liverpool Hope University requiring lecturers to spend the full 35 hours of their working week on campus unless they obtain formal permission to work off site.

Lecturers at the university reacted with dismay with some describing it as a “shocking example of micromanagement”. UCU’s national office argued that the new edict “ignored the time and preparation lecturers spent on preparation and assessment via the internet”
